We work hard not just on making our business easier for clients, but also on how to leverage our own time effectively.  We are in the middle of re-working our business systems and optimizing how we sell in order to make it easier for our clients to buy from us.  One of the things we are doing is moving away from a one-off freelance business model where every project and quote is customized, to actually creating a sustainable business that runs on its own (well at least with less direct handholding from our senior team anyways).

We are reading a book called “The Unlimited Freelancer” and we think it’s an absolutely FANTASTIC place to start if you are struggling with growing your own part or full time freelance business or are unsure where to start.  Some things are obvious when you have done enough business as we have, like using web-based project management, good bookkeeping, standardize quotes, etc but this book is giving us a 5-year jumpstart on where we should be going. 

Some of the content in the book about Marketing and CRM’s is absolutely excellent and I’m sure it will give you a head start on making your business better in a shorter period of time. Anyways, we are on page 100 and I think I will have a lot more to say about systems and business automation in the coming months.
